Description of the innovation projectCarPlusCamp is a peer to peer online marketplace which connects owners of camping gears to travellers who want to rent them; our website enables transactions between these two entities by charging a service fee. We also give people the possibility to rent a car, to make their trip easier.
State of dev.The website and mobile application of CarPlusCamp are currently in an advanced stage of the design process; our project was recently selected for a period of business incubation by Vulcanìc (Catania) and Impact Hub (Siracusa). We expect to have a finished product for the next summer season and to enlarge our community from Italy to the whole Europe. Nevertheless, we already have some potential partners, companies which are interested in our project and in working with us. Among them there are, world’s biggest online car rental platform, and Decathlon, one of the most important sporting goods retailers; the store of Catania will promote CarPlusCamp and give us access to its database of users, in order to help us building our community. Other partners who commit to our purposes and mission statement are ACSI, the largest european campers association, ACTI (Italian National Campers Association), and Share’NGo, the first electric car sharing company in Italy.

Market segmentThe number of the campers is constantly increasing. In Italy, during 2015, there were about 9,5 million campers, in Europe about 82 million, 14% of the entire tourism industry. Considering our strategies and the potentiality of our partners we forecast a turnover of about €170.000 in the first two years, investing about €150000.
Advantage factorSharing economy model: renting something you don't need to use very often makes a lot more sense than buying it and letting it collect dust in your garage. There's a green aspect as well, since sharing helps cut down on overall use of resources. In an era when we may not know the people down the street from us, sharing things, even with strangers we've just met online, allows us to make meaningful connections. We are going to build an online community of users, who can share their equipment.
Commercial challengeOur network of partners will allow us to have a considerable customer base from the very beginning of our activities; this will be an important competitive advantage.
